So, after yesterday World Cup 2018 and 2022 announcement I, along with nearly half of the world was shocked to discover that Russia (less so) and Qatar (more so) have somehow been awarded the right to host the World Cup. When you look at each draw separately, I personally would have given these two countries the least chance when taking into account the quality of the opposing bids. Right before the announcement I caught a glimpse of Roman Abramovich smiling to his Russian counter-parts while Prince William looked as happy as sin. The fact that both of these countries were awarded the right to host the World Cup has baffled managers, players and quite rightly the English press, who made their thoughts felt. Qatar have no footballing legacy what-so-ever! And I’m sure the players will love to hear it averages about 36 degree’s in the summer in Qatar, probably the best weather needed to bring the best out of the players? Qatar was chosen because of the gas the country posses, simplez. Those voters pockets must be bulging after that, and not to forget how rich Abramovich is…
The 2022 World Cup decision was the worst, at least Russia actually love the sport, but Australia, South Korea, Japan and the USA must be reeling after loosing out. Fifa needs to be cleared out from the top to the bottom, it won’t happen and by the looks of it, its the sign of things to come.
On the 15th of this month was Steve Irwin day, a day where everyone got a chance to remember the man behind Australia zoo! When i was thinking of coming over here this was probably around the top of my list on reasons to visit Australia. He’s probably one of the very few Australians known around the world, for something other than acting/music. After watching his shows on tv when i was younger about the zoo and things he got upto it’ll be good to finally see the zoo in person!
